One has to film light, for light is the air of time.“ Jean Eustache (1938-1981)

It is a moment of happiness for me as a photographer when I succeed in capturing a passing moment in a photograph, when light and shadow fall onto or through the structure of a leaf, the edge of a blossom, onto a drop of water in a plant and when this unique, beautiful, quiet picture appears in the viewfinder only to be visible for a second and never to be repeated. I am not only interested in the beauty of nature but also, as in my past exhibitions, in its vulnerability, in its fading, in which an ultimate  abstract beauty is revealed through the eye of the camera before it disappears. I am trying to “paint“ with my camera, to involve  the viewers in a dialogue with my photographs, to give them  a moment of quietness, if they let themselves  in to  this dialogue and  are captured by the symphonie  of colours and shapes. By detaching the “pictures“ from familiar contexts in which we normally come across them I offer the viewers the chance to enjoy them as aesthetic objects. They get the opportunity to refine their own perception, to sharpen it and question it. A tiny shift of the lens teaches us that we are mistaken, when we believe  that we have perceived the world around us conclusively, that it is an error to think it could be portrayed as it is. The definitions in my photographs melt into one another softly, such as if the viewers did not see reality but a dream. In my photographs I move along the verge of the recognizable. Atmosphere and emotions play an important part in this seductive and shimmering world of colours. The source of my inspiration is not reality but fantasy itself.

Man muss Licht filmen.
